Eastern Lake Chinese Restaurant — Establishment, food and restaurant at 500 Boston Post Road, Orange, Connecticut.

I read a wonderful review of this restaurant recently in the NY Times and couldn't wait to eat here. As a lover of Peking Duck, I came hungry and ready to enjoy. This has to be the absolute worst Peking Duck I ever ate; unbelievably greasy, the skin was inedible and fatty and I think reheated in a microwave. We literally had to take the skin off the duck to try and eat this dish. The vegetables following, with more duck within were almost as bad and the steamed dumplings were cold. The only decent part of the meal was the house fried rice which tasted fresh, however, the shrimp was undercooked. The atmosphere is awful (picture school cafeteria combined with prison-like ambience with super bright fluorescent lighting), and crazy flickering neon lighting outside which enters the restaurant through closed blinds, coupled with small flies circling around you (and landing in your glasses which they did with both of us). I will never return.
